Building an Equal Future: 2019 CEDAW Women's Human Rights Awards Luncheon:
November 1, 2019 | 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm | Doors open at 11:30 am
San Francisco Marriott Marquis | 780 Mission Street | San Francisco, CA 94103
CEDAW, the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women, is an international bill of rights for women and girls. In 1998, San Francisco became the first city in the world to adopt a local CEDAW ordinance.
The CEDAW Women’s Human Rights Awards presented by the FRIENDS of the Commission on the Status of Women honor leaders and organizations who use their public roles to advance the rights of women and girls. Awards are given for leadership demonstrated in diverse sectors of the community including education, entrepreneurship, government, health, labor, media and philanthropy.
Proceeds from the event benefit programs and initiatives that support the work of the San Francisco Commission and Department on the Status of Women including stopping violence against women, eliminating human trafficking, and promoting gender equity.
